Ceramic pie weights hold pastry cases flat during blind baking, stopping bases from puffing, bubbling or shrinking out of shape in the oven. This 450g box from Avanti is made from unglazed ceramic, spreading heat evenly across the whole pastry base for a more consistent bake than rice or dried beans.

The beads pour easily in and out of a blind-baked shell and pack back into their blister box between uses. Each one is smooth and rounded so it lifts away from the pastry cleanly, without catching or tearing the base. Measures 450g per box, enough for a standard pie or tart tin.
