Made from solid granite, the bowl and matching pestle measure up to the toughest kitchen jobs, from cracking peppercorns and cumin seeds to pounding garlic and ginger into a paste. Measures 20cm diameter. The rough interior surface does the work of a mortar and pestle properly, breaking down fibrous ingredients instead of just crushing them flat the way a smooth marble version can. As with most stone mortars, hand washing keeps the granite in good condition and stops it wearing unevenly in the dishwasher.
